Asus Rog Swift PG27UQ 4K 144Hz G-Sync Gaming Monitor: Majority of gamers not persuaded by price

One year ago, ASUS created one of the first FALD monitors for gaming. Now in 2020, it is again at the forefront with a ULMB monitor that can achieve high frame rates even when outputting HDR content.

New monitors, such as the ASUS PG27UQ, have both display types. Since there are a lot of good monitors available at $1,300 or lower, let’s see how it matches up to similarly priced models.

Image Quality

 

The ASUS ROG SwiftPG27UQ monitor has 178-degree viewing angles and a 4ms response time speed.

The monitor is factory-calibrated to cover 97% of the DCI-P3 color space and 99% Adobe RGB.

Asus Rog Swift PG27UQ Performance :

The ASUS ROG Swift PG27UQ supports 4K at 144Hz and HDR.

ASUS says on their product page that the ASUS PG27UQ cannot do two of the following three things.

●     98Hz and 10-bit color depth

●     120Hz and 8-bit color depth

●     144Hz and 4:2:2 chroma subsampling

The difference between 8-bit and 10-bit color depth is unnoticeable in video games. Almost all games support only 8-bit color.

For hard-to-read text, chroma subsampling would make it less clear in desktop use and for games with a lot of text.

Here's what we recommend for 4K resolution monitors: 120Hz, 8-bit color.

The Pros:

The initial price for the ASUS ROG Swift PG27UQ was $2,000. However, it can now be purchased for as low as $1,300.

The Acer Predator X27 is a model based on the same panel as the PG27UQ and also goes for around the same price.

The Design of the K730 lacks pivot adjustment and it only has two built-in speakers, but it does have an extra USB 3.0 port.

Consider the Dell AW3423DW instead, which is worth its higher price. This monitor offers better image quality thanks to its QD-OLED panel with an infinite contrast ratio, as well as the smoother performance with instantaneous response time.

If you want a gaming monitor without worrying much about the image quality, you can get the Acer XB283K, which is only $600. It actually has a better response time speed and HDMI 2.1 support as well and it's compatible with 4K, so if you need it for your consoles too, then that's great.
