ASUS TUF FX505 Gaming Laptop: Powerful Performance, Energy Efficiency
ASUS TUF FX505 is a gaming laptop that offers powerful performance and energy efficiency. It has a 15.6-inch display with a 144Hz refresh rate, which means it can render games in high definition without any lag or tearing. The ASUS TUF FX505 also has an intelligent cooling system for keeping the device cool during long hours of gaming sessions.
What we ultimately thought about the ASUS TUF FX505 Gaming Laptop
Asus has taken on the challenge of creating reliable, fairly priced gaming laptops. The TUF Gaming FX505 is a slim and portable device with a large display for enhanced gameplay and a powerful Intel Core i5-8300H processor.

Top-tier smartphones can cost more than half of a student's monthly car payments. The ASUS TUF Gaming FX505DY is an affordable choice for gamers looking for an immersive gaming experience.
The disadvantages of the Galaxy S8 are surprisingly minimal: the keyboard may feel just a little mushier than usual, the display is not very high in contrast, and all-plastic.
What is the ASUS TUF FX505 gaming laptop's price?
The Asus TUF Gaming FX505DY starts at £749/$699. This laptop comes with a Ryzen 5 3550H CPU, 8GB RAM, Radeon 560X graphics card and a 1TB hard drive with a solid-state portion to keep Windows 10 running quickly.
Amazon has the Dell G3 15 available for just under £700 and Amazon US has it for $2,137.
Our review model has an upgraded display, but most of the impressions here also apply to its base version. This model has 16GB RAM, a 512GB SSD, and a 1TB hard drive.
The Asus TUF Gaming FX505DY includes a one-year warranty which can protect it from a large range of issues that may be encountered. The best gaming laptops we’ve reviewed have been tested for quality and features.
Gaming Laptop: Durable & Energy Efficient
ASUS TUF FX505 is a good option if you want something affordable with a plastic exterior. Unlike other more expensive models, this laptop has a “tough” aesthetic design.
When you see the term MIL-STD 810G, there's a lot more to it than what meets the eye. There are a range of these tests that your phone has most likely never been submitted to.
The FX505 was tested for vibration, shock, high altitude, temperature, and humidity. It doesn’t mention how it was tested to check whether or not it’s waterproof. You should keep your laptop away from liquids; some laptops are waterproof, but the FX505 might not be one of them.
The Asus TUF Gaming FX505DY employs a hardy, semi-rugged design. Despite reports to the contrary, the laptop reportedly shows no signs of giving in under pressure.
The Ultimate Gamer laptop has features that keep it technologically advanced while still upholding the traditional traits of a gamer. For example, LED lights are not present on the lid or sides of the laptop. However, the red Asus logo on the back remains as well as keyboard lettering that is also red. All panels have an aluminum-esque feel, making it more comfortable for gamers in their pursuit of victory.
Asus wanted to create a distinct-looking laptop for gamers using conventional, less expensive materials. Subtlety is not the goal but that didn't stop it from achieving a unique design.
Asus TUF Gaming laptops are not ultraportable due to their thickness, weight, and design. However, they are still lightweight and slimmer than most gaming laptops.
How the Keyboard and Trackpad are helpful in gaming
The Asus TUF Gaming FX505DY has a 1.8mm keystroke action, which is deeper than the average thin and light model.
The keys are slightly less stiff so you can't write as fast but it's not far off the best gaming keyboards. The key action is a bit softer than on most other keyboards.
The keyboard has red lettering and sides to generate a pleasing hue. You can not change the keyboard backlight, unlike some other gaming keyboards.
The laptop offers a numeric keypad on the side, in addition to all of the suggested keys that you would expect from a laptop.
Its plastic surface is low cost and not as responsive when clicking. You’ll want a mouse because of the non-central positioning.
The mouse pad is slightly unstable to use. Even though the quality of it is fine, the experience is not as good.
How the ASUS TUF FX505 Gaming Laptop's screen performs
Overall, the 15.6" display has mixed qualities, but it is a great fit for gaming and movie watching. The highlights include vibrant colors, deep black levels, and insignificant bezels.
This device has a great contrast of 1431:1, giving it a bold look. The mat surface also stops reflections from becoming too much of an annoyance.
With a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, the Dyson Detail can maintain superb graphics. The higher pixel density offered by 1440p and 4K is not possible for laptops in this price range because those graphics cards are too weak.
The less-than-perfect aspects of the laptop are not too bad but are made apparent with its low-mid-range IPS panel. The panel only covers just 61.6% sRGB color gamut and 43.8% DCI P3 and 42.7% Adobe RGB. This can impact how vivid the tones are as a result, although lacking, in contrast, does improve on that flaw. The outcome is not too bad, better than this low-mid-range color might suggest.
But if you are more of an artist, the Asus TUF Gaming FX505DY probably isn’t the one for you.
The display will be too dim for use outdoors.
The display is not touch-sensitive and the hinges only fold back 130 degrees. Despite this, the display is satisfactorily fulfilling for gamers and movie viewers.
How this laptop efficiently balances performance
As of January 2019, our laptop has an AMD processor rather than an Intel CPU.
A benchmark for the AMD CPU shows that it does a better job than Intel in its latest processor, with a Geekbench score of 3938 per core.
The Asus TUF Gaming FX505DY laptop has plenty of power to act as a computer replacement for some, but be mindful of the storage options. The laptop will come with SSDs and hard drives (with an SSD portion) to speed up Windows 10. However, if you'll need to transfer a lot of data quickly, an SSD will always be much faster.
Our review unit has a 500GB SSD and a 1TB hard drive. We're spoiled, but if you're looking for budget performance, go for 256GB SSD. An SSHD offers more storage and Windows 10 speeds, but it's not ideal for multitasking or opening many files at once.
The Asus TUF Gaming FX505DY has an AMD Radeon RX 560X that allows the laptop to run medium graphics with 33.4fps in total war and medium graphics with 31fps in Ghost Recon: Wildlands
With the Asus TUF Gaming FX505DY, you will be able to play games on 1080p at mid-level settings. You won’t be able to max out high graphics settings which would make the screen super pixelated, but otherwise, it should work well.
The Armoury Crate on the Asus TUF Gaming FX505DY helps you get the optimal performance out of your computer.
There is little heat dissipation. The WSAD keys and other commonly used buttons have the last chance to heat up.
Battery life of This Gaming Laptop
Laptops always want to stay plugged in.
Carbon is a powerful battery with a runtime of five hours and twenty minutes. The laptop has great graphics performance, but the battery life leaves something to be desired.

Connection options
The connections on the Asus TUF Gaming FX505 are unusual because they all sit on the left side and there is no USB-C-shaped connector. In 2019, this seems very odd.
You can connect your mouse and other accessories to the USB ports. These include two USB 3.1 Gen1 ports and one slow USB 2.0 port. The full-size HDMI, 3.5mm headphone/mic socket, and a full-size RJ45 Ethernet port provide plenty of connection options too.
There is no memory card slot in this laptop, which is odd for such a big screen.
The lack of a USB-C port on the Asus TUF Gaming FX505DY makes it feel like a device that is not future-proof.
How to get an ASUS TUF FX505 Gaming Laptop
What's the best budget gaming laptop? Asus TUF Gaming FX505DY is one of the laptops that got really good reviews and even managed to beat out some others like Dell G5 15 and Acer Nitro 15.6.
This screen is not as bright or vibrant as higher-end options but offers a clear picture for an affordable price. This monitor is also excellent for gaming and offers elements that are comparable to those seen in more expensive monitors. Check out other models to find one with better features, but this product is still worth buying.
